I am tired. I could talk about water bottles and casks and ice, or the things I didn't do that I usually do, or that I did do that I usually don't, but I'm too tired.

So instead you get some photos of the B-Grade Miss'N'Out race. Two things about this race.

The last rider (or last 3 in the case of a large field) at the end of each lap is eliminated, until there's just three left.

Also it's one of the last races of the day, after the slow race and the slalom race and sprints and the biathlon and the various championships and possibly some others I've forgotten, and it was hot. More than a couple of medal winners had limped up to their place on the podium or grimaced as they stepped up.

1 Start

The A-Grade Race had less than 12 starters (there were some scratchings). This race had 24 starters at this point.

2 Leaving

That's a lot of wheels, and at the back

3 Crash

a couple of wheels too many. Two bikes tangled up in there.

"I'm so sorry about that," says one rider.
"It happens," says the other.

4 Wheel

You can't see the buckled rim, but those spokes are all over the space.

5 Start

So the riders are called back and they start again.

6 Leaving

Leaving.

7 Still leaving

Still leaving.

8 Still leaving more

Still leaving more.

9 Fall

He hung back as the others left and didn't even mount until they'd gone, then he wobbled and over he went. I didn't take a photo at first, he's starting to get up here. I think there was a moment of panic when he first went down. You can still see it in the official coming over. She has her hand over her mouth or face.

10 Race

The race itself was fairly uneventful.

11 Race

The riders near the front just seem happy to keep the pace, knowing they won't be eliminated, and waiting for the final lap. The riders at the back just seem to be biding their time until they're gone. And there are a lot of laps (7 or 8 for this race, the others races only have 2-4.) so the front riders don't want to push too hard.

12 Blue

Also I was mostly interested in watching the progress of the blue rider here.

14 Last 4

That's three of the last five riders on the final two laps. (The other two are up ahead. The woman in black/gray is eliminated next, green makes a run for a place and blue is already out, he's just riding back to the start.)

15 End

And that's the sprint at the end for second place. The leader won by an easy margin, so it's a less interesting photo (he's the guy in the white shirt with a stripe across it, in the earlier photos).
