Beach, in winter

Some photos from our beach trip the other weekend.

Port Sorell is the mouth of an estuary? waterway? river on the north coast, about halfway along (which makes it North West). The entrance is somewhat of a bay, with three resort towns along it: Hawley Beach at the top, Shearwater, then the town Port Sorell. They all sort of merge into each other, yet they're quite distinctive. Being about fifteen mins from Devonport and an hour-fifteen from Launceston, they're a popular location.

This is the Hawley end, the town visible is Shearwater.

Hawley has lots of rocks

and seagulls.

It's cold. Very cold. Squealing cold. Why-am-I-standing-in-this-water cold.

Not that something trivial like that will keep kids out. Someone, wasn't me, thought it'd be a good idea to walk around to Port Sorell.

When the tide is out, you can walk out to the islands in the top left of the photos.

Destination in sight -- the jetty.

Morning! The next day isn't as sunny

but the tide is Out.

The islands are visible there, as long black streaks behind the water.
I have more photos, from the towns, but they can wait :)

From Hawley.
