Continent with no plant life so it's a huge dust bowl (dust plate?) but it seems there is an ocean, which is their source of water.
But that dosen't seem right. Like wouldn't an ocean mean rainfall? And therefore rivers and the like. There is a line, "We're going to the surface. Water isn't a problem." which suggests rain sometimes too.
It might be that the rivers only run when it's raining, but still you'd think they'd have some water catchment system in place. Or its easier/cheaper to have one plant responsible for distilling sea water than lots of little ones set up waiting for occasional rain.
