Rules for finding things:

Where was the last place you remember seeing it?

If you're sure you've seen it somewhere recently but discover that was actually a similar but different item, stop acting on the assumption that you've seen it recently.

If the likely places have been ruled out, and the possible places have been ruled out, that leaves the unlikely places.

Any thought that starts "But I never put things in there" is a pointer to where to look

Sometimes the best thing to do is Stop Looking.

There is something beautifully refreshing about a brisk wind after a heavy rain storm.

Possibly I'll be sick of both by the end of the weekend :)
