The woman disturbed me. Not so much by her presence, it was normal enough for women to present themselves at the hall with claims against neighbours or even their own family, but this women's very statement reeked off wrongness.

The fog hung low around the edge of the clearing like a blanket, obscuring his view but it appeared that all of the hunters were present. Except one.

The other ship was getting closer, but too slowly.

"Beautiful Marimont." As he walked up the hill, Merryn stared at the city.

Tibe place his tankard down on the table, then eyed off the two men already sitting there. Fortunately, both suddenly remembered they had to be somewhere else right then.

Maddy stopped with her hand on the gate as she watched the approaching car. She still had her doubts about going through with this but it was a little late to back out now.

The woman was ordinary, even by his standards.

Somewhere they were out there. He studied each face that passed him, looking for someone, something familiar.
