Woke up (relatively) late. Got too hot during the night and the stupid sleeping bag kept moving out from under me. Found out later that some of the others had slept on deck. That would have been cooler.

Probably also explains why there were footsteps above me quite late into the night.

By the time I got dressed, the cleaning was just about over. (Drats.) Didn't leave much to do than check out the scenery, again. The bay looked different in the early morning light though.

The ship attracted a bit of interest. Over on the beach, there were a few watchers, with cameras flashing. A little duck swum most of the way over for a look too.

Then it was time for the sails to come out again

and head for home.

Another clear, sunny, almost windless day. Good for drying tea towels. That's Betsey Island in the background.

One way to fill in the time -- deck quoits.

A large flock of mutton birds flew past one one stage, they sit on the sea in large groups and when they moves, they stay low to the water, so there's a cloud of black specks moving over the waves.

Past the Iron Pot again, which marks the entrance to the River Derwent.

We had a bit of a lesson on navigation, charts & buoys, and wearing the ship. Wearing is similar to tacking, although slower and needs more room, which makes it easier. After the 'lesson', we get to try it.

The closer we got to the Derwent, the more "sea traffic" there was. Kayaks and power boats, at first. Later, smaller sailcraft, windsurfers and other things which I don't know the name of but obviously like to travel in groups.

At one point, there's a little red plane doing loops and somersaults. Dolphins are spotted, but a distance away and I can't see them.

Sails have to be put up, including the spanker which as been out the whole time. It being a difficult sail to handle.

So close you can almost touch it.

There's the breakwater leading into Sullivan's Cove.

and the Lady Nelson's berth

Back in Hobart, the sail are furled for the last time. (That's a long way up).

The little red plane returns, with some friends, flying in formation.

Then we all get certificates & a print of the Lady Nelson, and there's membership forms for those that want to join the organisation. It's necessary to have someone who is already a member sign it for you.

Then final goodbyes and we leave the ship. For the nearby pub.

(And after that, I obviously booked into the backpackers up the road and had that long, warm shower)

The end?

Wow!

I enjoyed that.

Got a little queasy at points, though - I did a twilight sail on the Leeuwin a year ago and discovered I get seasick :/

Glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for showing the photos!
