Unfortunately, red eye reduction doesn't work on cute dogs. She doesn't like the camera -- look at that tail :( She got her leg caught in the strap earlier and paniced. Silly dog.

I've also discovered that it's "video mode" (60s video, 10 frames per second) is interesting to use on the bus. I can sit it on the windowsill, set it to record and get something like:

Very nice. Good quality. Nice hills behind the river, lovely water, good details of the church/school and downtown areas. And cute stickers on the computer. This was the better camera, right? Looks like it. Worth it.

It's quite impressive. I was having problems with losing details, when I scanned in my hard copy photos but the digital photos are very pleasing (esp. the ones of Jaz, they seem so real, I half expect them to bark). It's not handling strong light/dark contrast very well but then I've barely touched on it's features so far, I'm sure there's a way to deal with that. There's in some blurring in places in the above photos esp. the one of the bookcase because I didn't have the flash on but it's not obvious at that size.

Cost me $399 (for comparison, my point & click film camera was $199). It's a beast. Now I'm going to photodocument the city ;)
