Yesterday I was thinking about getting rid of the film camera. It's a fairly decent camera. I bought it for the trip to US 2 years ago and got a Lot of use of it but since I got the digital, it hasn't been picked up. I'm not even sure where it is now. So I thought of selling it but then I thought, what if I need it sometime. Why would I need it? Well...
In last night's dream just before I woke up, I was travelling in a truck (with my sister and the guy who drove the truck) through all these little towns. In England, I think, heading north because there was some question of whether we were going to the way to the Scottish border. At each of the towns we'd stop and look at things, they were mostly small but still interesting. There was one that had big fancy old buildings that suddenly stopped on the edge of the town(1) but I couldn't find my camera :( Only some old film cameras but I wasn't sure they had film in them & I didn't want to open them to check (2).
We went through a lot of these towns in one day, in a bit of a rush although there were some adventures in some, I think we were looking for camera film a lot too(3), and then just before dark, we reached London (dream geography doesn't have to be correct) and a place I identified as 'Trafalgar Square'. Fortunately I found the digital camera and I got to go out and take photos of the fascinating statues and ornate windows and gargoyles and architecture(4) that was in this place.
I was able to recognise the place because in dream a couple of nights ago, I was watching a documentary on TV that showed this place or was about this place.
And I was watching the documentary because a couple of years ago I had a dream where we visited a number of cities including this one and saw the square, although it was plainer then.
That latter dream also had a sequel, where I was travelling by train across Europe to London (dream geography) where I met up with someone who lives there and had various adventures.
What is sticking in my mind, other than the dreams that keep referring to other dreams, is I want to see more of this place but I don't think anything like it exists in the real world :(
1. like Zeehan
2. possibly a reference to my other old camera, a $20 contraption that I only used one and never got the film processed that was a replacement for a $10 camera that never reached the end of the film, it kept going and going and going until I opened it up to see what was going on
3. may be referencing a previous dream in which I spend a lot of time looking for camera film and therefore be pointing out a weakness of my film camera, or maybe our Europe trip when we went through 40 rolls of film in 10 days (Me 10, Nicquel 30) so we spent a lot of time looking for reasonably priced film
4. this what I like doing with the big, old church buildings and I'd been taking photos the day before of the windows and memorial plaques in one of the central city churches
5. because of reading about a documentary that day and it occurred to me I hadn't watched many lately.
