Ulverstone, part II

xenithBack to Ulverstone, to finish off. Sort of. Not feeling that enthusiastic about these things so not a lot of comments. I think it's mostly self-explanatory though.
Starting at the clock now, which is also a war memorial. Not sure I've ever a town with quite so many war memorials.

So that's back the street with the shops. Actually an interesting town once you start looking around. This street and the immediate surrounds have been developed, but often only on the surface so the older buildings are there behind the facades, and in the side streets.
Also interesting, some of the buildings around the clock tower roundabout are not as square as usual. A bit hard to see as a photo though.
That one too.
That's the local history museum which is also interesting (more photos, for another day).
Now this is Main Street, walking back towards the river/bridge.
With a slight detour down to the recreation ground.

A couple of random houses.
This one is more typical of the houses in this area.
From the heritage database:
Thought to be the only building of this type remaining in north western Tasmania. Is the sole remaining shop building in the original Ulverstone shopping centre which 'migrated' two blocks to the south between 1890 and 1917. Is a relic of the pioneering trading firm of G&A Ellis which opened in Ulverstone in 1876 and of a social and commercial environment which has long gone.
To finish off, Leven River & Bass Strait.
