Day 3, Home
Thursday morning we had to be done in the hotel foyer, packed and ready to go, at 5 minutes to 6. Yeah, that's what I thought. The hotel shuttle bus picked us up form there, dropped us at the Skybus depot at Southern Cross station and we were taken out to the airport. Exciting, I know.
At the airport, we went to check-in at Qantas but we were booked on JetStar. Oh well.

That's a JetStar plane, but not ours.

That's not our plane either, it's amosquito Qantaslink plane like the one we came over on, which is why I was trying to get a photo.

That's our plane.

That's taken from on the plane.

So is that. Melbourne city centre is the grey smudge at the top, on the right.

Victorian coast.
It was an uneventful trip home. Read: dull. There was light cloud cover the whole way. Not the thick "wouldn't it be cool to walk on that" clouds we had coming over that cleared away over land, but just dull, obscuring clouds, and the stupid plane wing.

Tasmanian coast.

North Esk River, and that'd be Ravenswood and Waverley.

Southern end of the city. Maybe Youngtown. I can't remember where I took it. My usual attitude to taking photos on the plane is I will until they say to put all electronic equipment away.

Turning, out over Evandale area. That's Ben Lomond in the background.

And that's in the other direction (west).

Western Junction, coming into land. Road to Perth, and main line railway

On the ground. Yay.

Fruit dog took an interest in our bags. I said I had nothing so they let me go. Last year the dog picked up on me having oranges in there two days previously so I was careful about not putting any fruit in that bag while we were in Melbourne. Sister had to unpack hers, and it turned out to be one of the kid's school lunchboxes that the dog picked up on. They're good.
Then we met Brother and he took us home. Brothers are handy for that.

Nile Hotel
Date: 2011-10-16 05:59 am (UTC)Found all your photos of the Nile Hotel (no, I'm not commenting on your flight home to Launceston!!) and they're fabulous. I suppose I should never have thought that I would be the only one interested in doing the place up because of family connections!! My great great grandfather, James Gutteridge, was licensee there from 1875 - 1881. What a brilliant building and such a shame it's in the state it's currently in.
Cheers, Trudy
