I need to get these done before I forget details
Day 2, Morning
The plan this morning was to get up reasonably early and, there being little open then, head over to Fitzroy Gardens and see if there was anything there to look at.
"Gardens are borrrring."
"Yesterday you said the museum was boring."
"But I didn't know better then."

Too early to be out of bed! Well, not really. I just trying to get the sun coming up behind the buildings effect.

That's a better idea of the amount of light. Nice and overcast too. Weather forecast is for showers. Fun, seeing we're planning to go to the zoo later.

Our immediate plan for the morning was changed when someone's shoe broke. Instead we decided to go shopping. Two of us to Target for new shoes and the other two to a bookshop.

Except it was only 8.30 am so the shop wasn't open yet. What is it with the shops not opening until 9 am? Anyway, we decided to head into the mall to see if there were any interesting shops in there.

It has interesting buildings to take photos of, at any rate.

When we walked through here the previous evening, I mentioned the debate about whether the phrase "Buckley's or none" originated from the shop or they just took advantage of it. Erin reminded me of this when I stopped to take a photo. (She must listen to me :)

At the end of the mall, the old GPO building.

We wandered into Royal Arcade. It was interesting.
Shop on the right there is "Babushkas". Is there enough demand for those things that it can support a shop in the middle of Melbourne? I have seen a shop that just sold them before but that was in a area with a lot of very specialised shops.

"Spellbox" there, and some other similar shops. Odd little place.

By the time we wander back out, it's definitely raining. We head back up to meet with the other half of our group, and spend some time buying necessary things, like cough lollies and all day tram/train tickets.

Once we have them, we can more efficient use of the trams to reduce walking. Did I mention our feet still hurt from yesterday? So we hop on a tram and catch it down to the corner.

Hey, we've been before. Also, still raining. From here, we catch another tram (turns out to be the free one) the three blocks up to the Aquarium.
