Royal Park
May. 14th, 2011 03:51 pmSome photos from rally today. Feeling grumpy so I'm not inclined to put words on them, but I think the focus of the rally is fairly obvious.

Peter Cundall isn't adverse to saying what he thinks, about politicians or balloons. (He opened by saying the black balloons looked like bunches of grapes or the testicles of a liberated minority. "Let's just call them liberated grapes, and think interesting thoughts.")

The other speakers weren't particularly engaging, but that was due in large part to the acoustics: hard to take an interest in what someone is saying if they're hard to hear, and hard rev up a crowd when your voice is soft.

Camera wasn't cooperating, but I wanted to get a photo of this dog's coat.

A few thousand people. Not a big turn out, but I don't think they promoted it very well (not a lot of it, and it was bit off=putting).

Moving out. Speaker we'd have to cross Wellington St using the traffic lights.

Not easy taking photos walking backwards.

There's another police car further down the road on the right. Road blocks? When we did get to Wellington St, the traffic lights were off and the road blocked. We wondered if the police scrambled to get it organised.

The march ended in Civic Square, as it usually does, but there amongst the crowd there are a few stalls.

There was a "Go Fair - Fair Trade Fiesta"
