A few photos from our road trip last month, taken from the car. The eastbound highway out of Hobart is the Tasman Hwy. A short distance out, just past the airport, it becomes a causeway that runs across to a jutting out piece of land, known as Midway Point and then there's a second causeway which leads into Sorell.

Causeway

In Sorell the Tasman Hwy meets Arthur Hwy. The former turns north and follows the east coast right up to the north, where it turns to the west and runs down through Scottsdale to Launceston; the latter runs south to the Tasman Peninsula.

Sorell has been the main town on roads to the east coat and Tasman Peninsula as long as there's been roads, and it must be one of the oldest towns on the island. Tourism-wise though, it's overshadowed by nearby Richmond though.

Now leaving Sorell and heading to Richmond:

I've done Richmond before, so just two quick photos.

This is a popular postcard view. The Bridge, being the oldest bridge in the country, and the Church, being the oldest Catholic church in the country.

The bridge from the church. That looks to be St Lukes in the background, the Anglican Church, so the other roofs jsut to the right must be the main street.
