Body decoration
Jan. 9th, 2009 11:50 amTattoos seem to have become as accepted as pierced ears*. If there's a older girl/youngish woman standing in front of me, it would be strange to not see a rose or heart or words tattooed on her bare shoulder or back of legs. At family community events, temporary tattoo stands are common too. Sticking pictures and words on your skin doesn't seem to incite much passion these days.
So will they go out of fashion all together? Become something only "old farts" have?
For the purposes of world building, I've been thinking about 100 years time and what young adults & teenagers might be doing then. Maybe "all natural" will be the thing, showing off your natural appearance, or exaggerating it. Or reintepreting a fashion from the past (1990/2000s is cheating though). Or some other form of body art or decoration yet to be thought of?
*Other forms of piercing seem to have faded from fashion
