I need a quick favour.

I'm having a problem with photos -- what I see on the camera's screen when I look at photos is different to what I see on my home computer (for the worse), but when I look at them on other people's computers, they look better. Given my tendency to customise everything and anything on the my computer, I suspect it's my monitor that's "different". I'm not sure the following will help but it might.

There's two photos below, taken in the same place, same lighting and just a few secs apart (after I fiddled with some camera settings). Have a quick look at them, and tell which one looks "better". Not which one has the least faults, just which one is, well, I guess more attractive. Also, on which one can you see the most detail in the doors, windows & tree trunk, or isn't there a difference?

That's what I see on my computer screen (the top on is blah, the bottom one is more how it should be).

Whereas when I looked at them on the camera, the bottom one was washed out & lacked colour.

Depends on the part of the photo in question. Generally speaking the bottom one looks a bit washed out other than the building on the right which has more details from the lightening. You might want to look into the gamma settings of your system vs. those of others viewing it. (PC vs. Mac issue)

The bottom one is washed out? Meh. That's what I saw in the camera screen (and changed the settings back).

Meant to add, I haven't looked at them on a Mac. Is that what you have?

Thanks. That matches what I get close enough to make me happy.

Looking at them on sister's computer, I think I prefer the darker top one & the bottom one does look washed out, although there's more detail visible.

OK I give up :)
