Butteflies

At Entally, I came across some cooperative butteflies, who didn't seem overly concerned at the camera. See, with just 3x zoom:



Not cropped, just straight off the camera, although resized, because 10 Mp is a tad too big. It's a good size to zoom in and look at details though. I didn't realise butterflies were so haiary.

The hairiness might be explained because he's a moth - though I don't know if butterflies can be hairy.

The easiest way to tell butterflies and moths - when they are resting, moths lay their wings flat (like this fella), butterflies hold their wings up.

Yay! Random bits of trivia do come in useful sometimes! :)

I can never remember which way the wing thing goes. I thought the cabbage whites were moths but they're butterflies too.
