I use Sierra Home Architect to make up plans of any important buildings, which is good because it helps me visualise events and check for mistakes (no, that room can't be overlooking the river). It also lets me do things like this:

So that took an hour. To produce that picture, not counting the hours to do the plan, put in the furniture, do the decor. An hour during which computer is tied up and can't do anything else. And then another half an hour or so fiddling in graphics program to get rid of the glitches. There are always glitches. Missing windows & doors or blobs of colours in odd places. Gah.
Not what I want to do though, is streets. This is one from a few years ago:

Fairly basic & there are still some glitches & the program isn't going to handle anything more than that.
Something that makes street scenes like a computer game's, that would be good.
