Today was warmer, and rather sunny. Just the sort of day when you do to the beach.
So we did.
Up to Greens Beach, up near the mouth of the Tamar. It's about 40 mins drive from Launceston, so it's popular for both day trips and a beach resort.
Being the Friday of the a long weekend & the week after Christmas, it's probably at its busiest too.
There were about 50 people on the beach. It's a big beach though, very long (the town is at one end, the other end was deserted) and quite wide & flat, which means the tide has a loooong way to go out.
We took the kids in swimming (to adult knee depth), walked up the shop for lunch, tried to make a sandcastle (the sand had too much water in it, it stuck in the containers) so changed it to wall & moat, went for another swim to try & wash sand off, then came home.
Fun :)
It's a nice drive up along the Tamar Valley (along a narrow, winding, patched road aka the West Tamar Hwy) through hills and past farms, which some nice river views. Coming back, we cross at the only bridge over the Tamar, and came back along the East Tamar Hwy, a much better road and equally scenic.
Not a bad way to spend the day. Think we got sunburnt, of course.
