The other day I went to Kmart in my lunch hour, as one does. Bought a couple of things (scented highlighters, a marked down plant & a hot water bottle actually) and went up to the checkouts.
There were lines at two. One, which we will henceforth refer to as Checkout A, had a woman being served, a man behind her, and a woman with a trolley behind him. The other, Checkout B, had four people in it. Of course, people with trolleys usually take longer to go through, so I went with B.
Then the woman being served at A left, and I realised the guy & women with the trolley in A were together. So, I changed lines. You think you can see where this is going, don't you?
There were clothes in the trolley. The woman took some out, the checkout girl took the hangers off, scanned them, folded them and put them in a bag.
All the people lined up at checkout B who were in front of me went through.
The girl kept scanning & folding clothes.
Another 3 or 4 people went through Checkout B.
The woman took more clothes out of the trolley.
Another person went through B.
This was getting silly. Then I remembered I wanted to buy a light bulb. So I went to the far side of the shop, found the bulbs, stood and stared thoughtfully at them, considered buying a couple of other things, decided I didn't want any of them and went back to the check outs.
The woman with the trolley was still there...
