Another new toy!

New TV came home tonight! It's 51 cm/20 inch, so it's a bit bigger than the old box, which has gone home with mum.

It has a remote! Never had a remote that did everything before. Everything... one button and it scans through all the channel. Automatic channel surfing? Isn't that going a bit far :) And preset pictures seetings. And it automatically searched for the channels when it was turned on which was handy because I wasn't looking forward to tuning it. It doesn't make tea or coffee though. If this is a cheap TV...

Now it's sitting there all metallic & shiny & looking really out of place

That's 20 inches as measured on the diagonal? That's how we measure them here, not sure if it's the same for you. All these new things are going to make your furniture and curtains look old. You'll have to redecorate completely. Then your house will look shabby, so you'll have to move. See what you started? : )

Yep, on the diagonal. It's a nice size.

I can't find a way to reorganise all the ornaments that were sitting/around the TV. The old TV was flat on top,so the DVD & VCR players were sitting on top but that doesn't work now, so the DVD player is beside it, which means i can't have the two lamps sitting on either side of the TV and so on
