Picked up an interesting record today: Vanishing Sounds in Britain. It's recordings of sounds that you don't hear very often/at all these days e.g. horsedrawn vehicles, paddlesteamer, bulding being demolished, various trains, trams & old planes.

Quite interesting.

It took me a few years to get a turntable I liked. Ended up getting one at an auction, tall cabinet with a different component on each shelf and 4 speakers. It was probably a killer system in its day. Cost me $14

I haven't worked out which sound goes which track yet. Once I cut up the rather long mp3 I will. The horses ones are cool though. I noticed when I was rereading a first draft novel that at one point I'm trying to describe the sound of a horse approaching along the road at night. Much easier when you have a recording to work from.

LOL! I used to see old stereo systems at garage sales all the time during the early to late 90's. Now you almost never see them. I suspect there's a turntable/stereo graveyard/junkyard somewhere where they all wandered off to die. . . *evil grin*

Horses sounds are very cool and very helpful when doing that sort of scene.
