A bumper sticker I've seen around a few times, usually on the back of a 4WD, is: Earth First! We'll strip mine the planets later.

Last time I saw it, the person I was with got quite upset. She interpreted it differently to how I did. Which made me wonder, what does it mean, to you?

That's cheating!

It was a few months ago (something just reminded me) so my memory is a bit hazy but she was muttering about going up to the driver and asking them how they'd feel if their kids had to live on a world that had been destroyed.

yeah i would have read the sticker similarly - the whole lets consume all we have here and then look elsewhere for what we need ratherthan ratioalising our current uses for what we really need .. *cough* kinda like the water debate *cough*

I would take it as tongue in cheek sarcasm. I would expect they are really saying "don't you realise mining is destroying our planet". Or somesuch.
