Shall spare you the details. Let's just say computer had a lesson in what happens to contrary beasts (and computer owner had a lesson in why one should know where one's boot disk is).

On the good news side, I've got a new toy. I've been toying with geting a new CD burner for a few weeks now, seeing as it's sort of needed to make backups and they are important. Noted that the typical price was $50. Also noted that $75 would get a CD burner + DVD player. Which is sort of just a little bit more than $50, isn't it? Having decided this morning that I wouldn't need a new computer after all (always a good thing), I decided to get a nice, new CD writer/DVD player.

So we went into the office superstore and wanders around looking for the CD drives. Next bay over, the young man who worked there said, and there's some on special. They might have been. I didn't find them. I got distracted by a DVD burner for $74. Which I am now setting up.

heh, I had one of those lessons this weekend, as well. The scrambling around looking for bootdisks. Found it, without too much trouble, and got Pat's machine up and running. Just have to get it over to UPS tomorrow and off to North Carolina ;)
