We had this problem a few years back when we bought our first DVD player! In one evening, we bought the DVD player and found it wouldn't work with the TV, which had belonged to Nick's parents waaaay back. So we went and bought a new TV (this is when we're supposed to be saving up to move back to the UK). The TV was 28'' and wouldn't fit in the boot of our two door car so we had to unpackage it in the parking lot and jam it into the front passenger seat. When we got back we found out that the cheapest DVD player we'd bought was crappy, so it was another trip out again to buy the next cheapest DVD player, which worked just fine. And less than a year later we sold them both and moved over here and had to start again!
