I came across this joke being used as a filler in a newspaper the other day:

Somebody asked George Coleman the difference between an attorney and a solicitor. "The same, I believe," said Coleman, "as between a crocodile and an alligator."

Yeah, not that funny. It's an old joke. The newspaper was 6 February, 1847 actually.

I always assumed lawyer jokes were a bit more modern than that. Obviously not :)
