T.M.E Site

Just outside Rosebery this is a dirt road that runs off the south. There are number of signs at the turn off that point to "Williamsford 6 km", "Car Park 6 km", Montezuma Falls. About one kilometre in though is a small car park and tower.

"Track to T.M.E site".

The Tasmanian Metal Extraction Company (TME) set up a plant just outside Roseberry for the purposes, as well as I tell, of extracting and processing ore for the Tasmanian Copper Company. Construction started in 1912 but the plant closed and suspended operations "just prior to" or "shortly after" the commencement of WW I. Whichever, it was a shortlived enterprise.

There is a picture showing the layout although it doesn't quite match what's there. "You are here" is the carpark and tower. This is the "Lookout" so I guess this thing in the photo is the "Secondary Crusher".

The main crusher is on a hill above us.

Obviously there is much more to the site than this bit at the lookout.

But just as obviously there is no safe way down there from here. It drops off quite quickly and doesn't look stable. That it's not fenced off also says it's not easily accessed. So no going down.

No matter how interesting it looks.

Some more bits around the lookout site.

There is a bit off to the side amongst the trees. Chimney stack? It doesn't look like a chimney stack.

Then further in amongst the trees...

And a weird rock thing to finish off.
