In which there are photos of planes and photos from planes, and photos of planes from planes.
Being as I was awake most of the night and already packed, I was early getting to the airport. I had to catch a taxi there. Flight departure time was 10 am and the airport bus earliest arrival was also 10 am. Handy, not, especially as there is no public transports anywhere near the airport on Sundays. (Taxi was only $23. It might be a bit more during the week, but as the airport express bus is $12 one way/$20 return, if I was travelling with other people, it'd be worth getting a taxi for the convenience.)

The airport, once through security, is just a long hall with seats at each end and a couple of cafe things in the middle.

Also shiny.

So there wasn't much to do while waiting except take photos of planes

and planes taking off

and more planes. Of course, the flight was delayed too.

Even one we'd boarded the plane, there was a longer delay. It was about half an hour late leaving, maybe a bit later. Which isn't that long, but that was on top of me getting there early :(

I like to pick out places I saw. City centre is obvious, then the bridge across the lake, then the various places on the other side of the lake inc. both parliament houses and the war memorial (top is just visible over hill) on this side.

For most of the trip though, it was just clouds. Refreshments were a cup of tea and a bag of popcorn chips things that were actually nice.

Landing at Melbourne airport.

Melbourne airport. Due to more delays on trip down, the flight about an hour after it was scheduled, which was OK because I had an hour to get to the next gate. Fortunately, because I had to walk to the OTHER SIDE OF THE AIRPORT, or at least Virgin's part of it. Then this flight was delayed too. I can't remember how long, only the departure time came and went, and still no boarding call.

So more photos of planes taking off.

Leaving Victoria. Only got a cup of tea on this leg of the trip. Maybe it's a length of flight thing. An hour or less = drink. Over an hour = drink + snack.

Pilot said the flight was going to come in over Devonport and then head south-east, but there was a lot of cloud and first view I had of the land was the Tamar River (looking very big and wide, as nothing else in the north is).

What I did find cool, because I've never seen it before, is the plane landed from the north. Usually they land turn south of the airport and come in from that direction, over Evandale. But landing from north, the plane came in very low over the centre of Launceston. I even picked out my sister's house.
Photo is Windmill Hill and East Launceston, with the North Esk behind. (Henry St bridge in the top left.)

And finally the lovely, little terminal building.
Getting off the plane, it was windy enough we could have flown back to Melbourne without the help of a plane. But that is why I'd been carrying my coat with me all day.
