I should know better

xenithI have been working on the same stupid scene all month. Really, I started on the 1st. This is a scene that has been rewritten and rewritten already and all I have to do is read through and see if I want to change anything.
The problem is the MC has gone to a new place and now everything has to be described. So it goes something like...
Tall and twice as wide as me, and dressed as a labourer-- Wait, what does "dressed as a labourer mean? And would a labourer even be living in the area?
Spend some time searching on web for a map of the area that I saw a couple of years ago. I'm sure. Maybe he's a whaler? No. Search a bit more. Maybe he's a TOL holder was just happened to be walking past and doesn't actually live there. That works. Fix a later sentence to reflect that he doesn't actually live there.
But what is he wearing? Hmm. If I had a good costume-- Wait, I should know this. *thinks* Remembers talk at LHS last year. Go to their website. Remember I was going to show mother a copy of the list/manuscript that was passed around at the following meeting. That'll only take a moment because it was on the Female Factory site, or maybe not. Search for link to the file. Search for a mention of the document. Search other sites that might link to it.
Three hours later... no luck with file and I still don't know what the "helpful" passerby is wearing.
Repeat this every damn sentence.

So I shall save it and take it out to show mother, and ignore that the ancestor she's interested in has the same name/ship as another woman and I probably should work out which one she is.
