Steamfest 2010

You'll be pleased to know I reduced my Maria Island trip photos down to 427. Meh. So while I continue to work on them, some photos from Steamfest at Sheffield, this weekend.

Now I've never seen one actually working. I had some vague idea that they had a purpose other than lumbering along the road blowing steam and scaring small children but exactly what and how, I couldn't have said.

On the other side of the thresher.

Not sure what this is. Something to do with felting?

Line up of Massey Ferguson tractors

Not their usual handler. I think she was doing a demonstration for a cameraman who was wearing the same sort of top. Something like that. She didn't have to bring them right up behind me though.

Not quite so orderly there. The excavator dropped a pile of rock into their cart and they got a bit jumpy.

The bullocks dragged the cart along the road, and the rocks were dumped...

Ready to be put through the rock crusher, once the engine is connected up. I spent about 3/4 hour waiting while they hooked up the belt, then unhooked the belt and lined the engine up again, before I went to find something else to look at.

Pretty tiger snake, but camera doesn't want to focus up close.

Vintage tractors and related machines

Now I liked this, even more when I saw the one in the bottom front corner (not visible in photo) which is the same as one I have!

The tractors are leaving, the Fergies anyway.

A display of old toys.

1959 Fairlaine. I was rather taken with it. Looks better from the front :)

I like his expression. It's sort of concentration but happy.

Tractor Pull

Some of the vehicles here have cords attached to them so they can be controlled remotely. The truck there is dumping a load of rocks that go through that crusher thing. Was rather cool, and leaves the usual model train set up looking a bit bland.
