Killing time in the bookshop while I waited for the bus, I noticed a book with a yellow cover and a title that that looked more like a description "better handwriting goal: improved technique category: reference content: improve your technique etc." One of series of generic looking teach yourself books. And all marked down to $4.99

But I had time to kill so I looked in it, and the first part was about looking at your hand writing/technique and identifying the problems. After 10 mins, I decide it might be worth buying so I bought it and went out to wait for the bus.

On the bus, I get out my notebook to go some writing and I notice how I'm writing. Left-handed here. Anyway, at the start of line, I bend my hand back so the pen touches the left edge and as I write, I bend my wrist forward to the right as far as it will go, then I move my hand over to where the next word will start & curl my hand up so the pen is almost under it, then I move across the page in a series of jerks every word or so, when I'm writing fast it's every 3 letters. And I wonder why it hurts to write :\

If I try to form each letter properly rather than a scrawl, I can feel the tension in my elbow. Add to this the usual lefthanded backwards letter forming that I had never noticed i.e. the cross on the t goes from right to left, so I end up on the left side of the letter I've just written and have to jump over it to form the next letter. Sheesh. I think I got my $5 out of the book just in noticing all that.

Now, I have to find a way to fix all that.
