Feeling very uninspired about the essay I'm writing.
What were the conditions that changed prior to the emergence of printing. What were the immediate circumstances that made it possible for printing to work? What were the consequences of the emergence of printing.
One of the consequences is that not only were books now available to more people, but people had access to more books. So scholars could read multiple books on a subject. The contradictions, inconsistencies, different opinions and variation in approaches that each book presented stimulated new ideas, which led to new systems of thoughts.
It's interesting enough, but so far I've only got one text to read on each of the issues I'm supposed to address. So there are no contradictions, inconsistencies, different opinions and variation in approaches to stimulate new ideas.
