Today we went to the spring festival in Oatlands. In case you are wondering what a spring festival (Tasmanian style) and/or Oatlands look like, I am going to put up some photos. (That is a big surprise, I know.)

But that takes time, so here's some quick ones to tide you over.

Tiger - around

How to impress people: wear a tiger snake around your neck!

I don't usually post photos of the kids, but here's a couple of Erin... )

Via [livejournal.com profile] gillpolack comes this video, documenting an overlooked threat to society.

I have to wonder why it took them so long to realise (it says 2009). My brother-in-law alerted me to the problem early last year when he pointed out that wherever he goes, they are there. I hadn't realised until then, but he was right. They are always at the penny farthing championships in Evandale, and that was actually one of the first places I ever saw them, about 20 years ago. They were at the Wooden Boat Festivals in Hobart.

It was earlier this year though that I discovered how serious the problem is at the Heritage Fair at Clarendon. The only people that actually came to the fair where the organisers & volunteers at the house, the stall holders and the MORRIS DANCERS.

And, yes, they were at Oatlands today.

Be alert!
