Worried that things are happening to main character too fast, without the required development he needs. But less worried about this than when I did the second draft. I can see the development happening there. First, him knowing he should be trying to stand up for himself (that's what the captain does), then the small attempts, then a provocation that will spur him to make a real attempt.
