I found a pair of dress shoes that I can wear without knowing I'm about to fall off them at any moment.
That seems to be this season's fashion in dress shoes -- very high stiletto heels, you know the sort where you need a ladder to get into them, with two thin straps to hold your feet on. Very thin straps, the sort that look like they'll break if they were expected to hold the weight of the whole body, which of course they are doing. Are they safe to wear? I'll admit here I'm ignoring those that just have straps across the front of the foot because there is no way I'll wear shoes with nothing to hold my ankle, especially if all there is across the front of the foot is two of them tiny straps. Look guys (they were surely invented by guys), those aren't shoes, they're bits of synthetic leather that you tie on your foot. At best. Why are they in a shoe shop?
I went back today and found some with a respectable high heel and something other than string across the front, still very strappy but secure ish. There's two bits of string that cross over in front of ankle in a rather cool way too.
And open-toed, so no squishing of poor toes either.
Wearable.
Hopefully.
