I don't writing from just one point of view. That's what happens when you keep "losing" your POV characters though :(

I bought a video at the market at the market on Sunday. Titanic for $3.

I want to watch the ship sink, I told my sister. Frame by frame? she says.

Of course.

Except I don't have a video player. I have a DVD player. I think the DVD player saga predates this journal so....

A couple of years ago I had my old TV and a VCR of similar vintage. There's something weird about the aerial connection on the TV that means the only way to tune it in is to connect the aerial to the VCR. The VCR did work, I used it when sister recorded tapes of shows I'd missed, but I didn't want to trust it with any tape that had value (either rented or purchased).

Anyway, I decided I wanted to be able to hire/buy movies and watch them at home so I started thinking about getting a video player. Then I realised that DVD players are cheaper and more useful. So I put a cheap one on layby and paid it off over a few months. Brought it home. To find the cables that went into the new DVD wouldn't fit into the old TV or VCR. Went to electonics shop, talked with a kid who didn't know what I was talking about (he wasn't much older than the TV) and brought a connector/adaptor thingies. Discovered it worked for sound but no picture. Went to the other electronics shop, found a box convertor thingy, put it on layby, paid it off over a few months, took it home and connectet aerial and TV and VCR to it. Couldn't tune into any stations. Read manual. Rearragned TV & aerial & VCR. Read manual. Rinse Repeat. Gave up. Took thingy back to shop and got money back.

Decided to buy new TV. Started looking bottom of the line TVs in the size I wanted (if you're going to watch TV, it has to be a decent size) and waiting for them to come on special. Found a brand name TV in Target that was slightly more than I wanted to but was $200 off. Put it on layby. Paid it off over time. Finally took it home (with help from baby brother). Hooked it all up. And it all worked.

Vaguely remembers a thought about getting a DVD player would be a good idea because it was cheaper.

Then after all that, I noticed a lot of videos I wouldn't mind watching for sale at rather cheap prices but not a having a video player.... So now I want a video player. As well.
